In 2024, Access Bank Plc made an offer to acquire 100% of National Bank of Kenya Limited (NBK) from KCB Group Plc. Following the receipt of all regulatory approvals customary for a transaction of this nature, Access Bank successfully acquired NBK in 2025.
NBK has now joined the Access Bank family as a wholly owned subsidiary of one of Africa's largest and most diversified financial institutions, with a pan-African network spanning over 25 countries. The transaction, which began in March 2024, was guided by the Capital Markets (Take-overs and Mergers) Regulations and subjected to approvals from the Central Bank of Kenya, the Competition Authority of Kenya, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
NBK and Access Bank Kenya will continue to operate independently, pending the completion of all integration processes.
